Biography

40 something. Had a life saving 'emergency' (like there's another kind) liver transplant at the age of 26 after a very short (none alcoholic) related illness. 2 wonderful sporty bright kids who I try to support in their endeavours and studies from my first (and only) marriage.

I'm a cyclist by passion if that makes sense. I ride, race, coach, watch and support cycling and more particularly racing whenever possible and this, combined with my transplant was the inspiration for ReCycled. I am lucky to have travelled abroad to race but, more importantly, I get to race and train in my home county of Shropshire. My cycling club, Wrekinsport, has been the inspiration for some of the stories in the book.

I have been honoured to be captain and coach of the GB Transplant Games Cycling Team, representing GB on 6 occassions in Hungary 1999, Japan 2001, France 2003, Thailand 2007, Australia 2009 and most recently Sweden 2011.

What I would loosely call 'palmares' are

10 x Bristish Tx Games Road Race winner
4 x British Tx Games Time trial winner
European Tx Games Time Trial and Road Race winner 2010
4 x World Tx Games Road Race winner
3 x World Tx Games Time Trial Winner
SSSCCRRL Vets winner 2009.

Currently holding all 6 (British, European and World) road race and time trial titles all the same time. Fastest transplant cyclist in the world.
